New Beginnings for Sankt Ignatios Press

Founded in the early 2000s as Anastasis Media AB, Sankt Ignatios Press has been on a journey of transformation. In 2015, the Sankt Ignatios Foundation became the sole owner, and by 2021, the press was restructured and rebranded with plans for a relaunch. However, due to the challenges posed by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, our progress was paused. Now, as we look forward to 2025, we are excited to bring Sankt Ignatios Press back to life, ready to continue our mission with renewed energy.

What we do

We publish academic, educational and cultural resources within the field of Eastern Christian studies and theology.

What we want

We want to bring Eastern Christian studies and theology into discussion with contemporary society and popular culture as well as contribute to the never-ending task of re-imagine tradition. We want to support the Oriental Orthodox and the Eastern Orthodox churches to access their own traditions as well as further unity and inter-orthodox relations.

Three labels

Our publications are organized under three distinct labels — Academic, Education, and Popular — each tailored to serve a unique audience within the realms of theology, religious education, and contemporary culture. These labels allow us to reach readers from various backgrounds, ensuring that our works resonate within academic settings, educational programs, and the broader public sphere.

Academic
Our academic label publishes works for the world of theological scholarship, aiming to advance academic theology through research and thought-provoking insights.

Education
This label serves religious education at both academic and community levels, including folkhögskola and church-based learning programs.

Popular
Under this label, we publish works for the general public, engaging with popular culture and contemporary issues from a faith-based perspective.

Our Publishing Process

Editorial Review
Our Editorial Board conducts an initial review to assess the quality, structure, and relevance of submitted materials to ensure they align with our mission and scope. This phase includes financial considerations and may require the author to make initial revisions before the process continues.

Publishing Committee
The Publishing Committee reviews feedback from both the external peer review and the Editorial Board to make the final decision on accepting a book for publication.

Contract and Full Manuscript
Upon provisional acceptance, a contract is issued, and the author submits a full manuscript.

External Peer Review
Full manuscripts are sent to external reviewers. For works under the Education and Popular labels, additional field experts review the material to ensure relevance and quality.

Editorial Quality Control
Following the external review, a dedicated editor is appointed to ensure the manuscript meets our editorial standards for quality and coherence.

Layout and Design
Once editing is complete, the manuscript enters the design phase, tailored to specifications outlined in the contract.

Indexing and Metadata
At the final stage, the manuscript undergoes indexing and metadata tagging to enhance its accessibility and reach.

Production
The manuscript is then produced according to contractual agreements, culminating in its publication.
